An informative breakfast was held at Primafrio's facilities in Alhama de Murcia, the place from where the Vuelta a la Región de Murcia - Costa Cálida - Gran Premio Primafrio will start, in which a review of this year's edition was made and the main aspects of the Vuelta 2024 were informed.

The meeting was attended by Fran Sánchez, General Director of Sports of the Región de Murcia, María Cánovas, Mayoress of Alhama de Murcia, José Esteban Conesa, President of Primafrio, and Paco Guzmán, General Director of the Vuelta.

The race will be a one-day race and will be held on February 10. Thus begins the triptych of one-day classics in southern Spain, which is completed with the Clásica de Almería and Jaén Paraíso Interior.

It will have a route close to 200 kilometers, with a varied and mountainous orography, where the traditional and selective ascent to Collado Bermejo will return and stand out once again.

The Vuelta Ciclista a la Región de Murcia – Costa Cálida – Gran Premio Primafrio will count again with the presence of live coverage for two hours, following the agreement with the international channel Eurosport, which in the last edition took the images of the Region of Murcia to more than 270 countries, which actively influenced the economic impact of the race, estimated at 12 million Euros.

The race will be also broadcasted on the autonomic televisión La 7 and we expect to close the agreement shortly with TVE.

After the welcome, given by Paco Guzmán, the president of Primafrio, José Esteban Conesa Alcaraz spoke. He recalled that this year marks the 60th anniversary of the company, which started its activity in 1963. He also pointed out that "at Primafrio we have been supporting the Vuelta Ciclista a la Region de Murcia since 2020, through our Foundation and, since last year, as the main sponsor. In this 44th edition of la Vuelta, we are very proud to host the start of the race. Something which will be possible thanks to the collaboration of the City Council of Alhama de Murcia".

José Esteban Conesa said that for Primafrio it is an honor that the start of the Vuelta a la Región de Murcia 2024 will be from the headquarters of the company and indicated that it will be an open day so that all the people who are interested and wants to enjoy cycling can access them.

Paco Guzman stressed that the Vuelta a la Región de Murcia will continue its commitment to be the most sustainable one. "We started years ago together with the Primafrio Foundation with the inclusion of environmental protection measures: the patrol and the green points, sustainable jerseys, use of biodegradable materials, road books made of recycled paper, a fleet of hybrid and electric cars, and the organization of environmental awareness days in schools.

He expressed his gratitude to Primafrio, Grand Prix of la Vuelta, as well as to the rest of the sponsors, for their support to the race. Also to the City Councils that are interested in the race, represented in the person of the mayoress of Alhama, María Cánovas. "We have requests for the next four years, even already the agreement to point with a City Council for the 2025 edition."

Regarding participation, he anticipated that "so far more than 15 teams have applied to be in the Vuelta. Six of them are Word Teams". Finally, he indicated that, as always, he will try that all of the professional cyclists of the Region are in their home race.

Maria Canovas, the mayoress of Alhama, the town that will host the start, showed the satisfaction of having this event in his city, which, moreover, is one of the villages in which more times has been the Vuelta a la Región, which usually passes every year before or after the race passes through Sierra Espuña.

Canovas also thanked Conesa for its commitment to cycling, and the regional government for the constant commitment. She also thanked Primafrio for the values they transmit to Alhama, always ready. “It is a pride to have businessmen as close and human as José Esteban Conesa Alcaraz”.

Finally, he highlighted the cycling enthusiasm in Alhama and therefore, they are involved in the promotion of this sport, which also enhances the external image of the Region.

To close this informative breakfast, the General Director of Sports of the Region of Murcia, Fran Sánchez, thanked Primafrio for hosting the most important cycling race held in the Region of Murcia, "It is a leading company in Spain and Europe and its presence in the race is a guarantee for everyone".

About the Vuelta, he added that it is a dynamic element of sporting activity. “44 editions of the most complicated sport is a proof of maturity that is also demonstrated in the diffusion of the race”. He highlighted the 7 and Eurosport as regional and international media, respectively. He expressed his desire to have one more day with a CRI and made a public request to add more companies to the sponsorships of the Vuelta to increase the number of days.

During the meeting, the poster of the Vuelta a la Region de Murcia - Costa Cálida – Gran Premio Primafrio 2024 was presented.

Also, the official tune "Madre Tierra" by the Murcian group Coherence and Alicia de la Osa was played. Both internationally recognized for their innovative fusion of Electronic Music & Flamenco, come together to represent the culture and tradition of southern Spain.
